What is the relationship between DPI and PPI? What is LPI?
Complementing an article I posted at VectorTUTS+, I will try to give an in-depth explanation and describe the relationships between the Points per Inch and the Dots per Inch.
Also, for those dedicated to Prepress I will explain the LPI and how it affects the printing quality.
DPI
Dots Per Inch, AKA DPI, is measurement unit for the quantity of ink dots a Laser printer fits on a square inch. It is only useful when talking about Laser printing reproduction of your artwork.
The more DPIs does not necessary means the better the outcome.
